“I can’t say that teaching online during the lockdown has been ideal or fun, but teachers, parents and children have all pulled together and we have all given this our best. My kiddies have worked so hard to continue with curriculum during our skype videocalls. Parents have been absolutely fantastic! We had a fun day to celebrate Children’s Day, where I surprised them with joint videocalls and we shared stories, showed toys, played silly games and had story time. I took a lot of funny pictures for us to remember the day that we celebrated Children’s Day apart but yet together.
Funny moments that have arisen from this online teaching: seeing the excitement on children’s faces when they move houses (there were 3 in my class that moved home!); meeting doggies; seeing vegetables that one girl had planted in her garden! There was even one time that I called in and a small toddler was sitting in the students chair and he was babbling away with me! Was the highlight of that day. 😊
There are many memories that will stick with us in years to come, but what will most register with me is how much I have missed real, heartfelt hugs! Never will any of us take for granted the joy in seeing children interacting with each other and with us and learning together at school!” – Ms. C
